Guidance for cleaning your Geo device

Follow this guide for tips and advice on the best ways to clean your Geo device. When cleaning your device it’s important to only use cleaning products that are appropriate for computer hardware. Before cleaning always make sure the device is unplugged and turned off.

Important Tip: when you're cleaning your laptop, never spray a liquid cleaner directly onto your device. Doing this may cause damage to your internal hardware if the spray cleaners drip into your laptop.

Screens

You may find your screen becomes dirty over time with fingerprints and dust, which can become  distracting when using your device. When cleaning the screen never use normal house-hold cleaners or rubbing alcohol as these may cause damage.

To clean your laptop screen, follow the steps below:

1. Start by turning your laptop off and unplugging it.
2. Use a microfiber towel and a computer-safe cleaning product.
3. Prepare your microfiber cloth with the computer-safe cleaning product by spraying a small amount of the cleaning product onto the cloth. Remember to avoid applying the cleaning product directly to your device.
4. Starting from the centre of your screen, gently wipe the display in circular movements.
5. Continue wiping the screen until the entire surface has been wiped free of dirt, dust, or fingerprints.

Keyboards

1. Start by turning your laptop off and unplugging it.
2. Turn your laptop upside-down and carefully tap it to remove any dust or other debris.
3. Use a can of compressed air to clean the spaces between the keys. This is easier to do if you tilt the keyboard to one side and dislodge all the dust in short, sweeping motions. Remember to use the straw that is typically included with a can of compressed air to direct a concentrated stream of air where it needs to go.
4. Wipe down the keys with a slightly damp microfiber cloth. Make sure it’s not too wet because you don’t want liquid to drip into the internals of your device.
5. You may want to follow up the last step by wiping down the keys with a sanitizing wipe to kill any germs.
